Organising

Bij onze supermarkt krijg je zegeltjes, waarmee je uiteindelijk iets uit een cadeaugids kunt ophalen. Zo ook mijn nieuwe ladenkastje:

Met vier doorzichtige plastic bakken, zodat je fijn kunt zien wat je er allemaal in verzamelt...en het dus niet uit het oog kunt verliezen ;)
Het volgende punt, waar je dan tegen aanloopt is: wat doe je erin? Wat is handig??
Twijfel slaat toe!
Deze stofjes erin...nee, niet handig! Er weer uit en andere er in...Nee! Ook niet handig!

Snap je?

Nu zitten er gewoon mijn 2,5" vierkantjes bovenin en mijn lichte strings onderin, want daar ben ik mee bezig voor de Wonky, dus voor nu...voor nu is dit handig!

Tot er een volgend project komt en dan wissel ik het dan waarschijnlijk weer allemaal om :0)

At our supermarket you get stamps (points) with your groceries, with which you can eventually get something for free from the gift magazine.
Like my new organising cabinet!

It has four plastic, see- through drawers, so that I can keep my stuff in it in sight ;)
The next thing I then encounter is: what to put in it? What works best??
Doubt makes me panic!
Put these fabrics in...no, not working! Out with them and in with other fabrics...NO! Also not a good choice!

Well, now my 2,5" squares are in the upper drawer and my light strings in the bottom one, because the Wonky is still my current project, so for now...for now it works!

Untill I start up a new project and then I will switch it all again :0)

Verrassend genoeg zit de lade voor mijn lichte strings lekker vol!

Surprisingly enough, my drawer for the light strings is pretty full!

Als je dan zo lekker aan het organiseren bent, dan ga je makkelijk verder. Verder dan je eigenlijk bedacht had van tevoren...
En kom je dus ufo's tegen.
Ufo's waarvan je meteen denkt: Leuk!! Wil ik ook weer wat mee doen!

Eerst maar in andere, nu weer makkelijkere opbergplaatsen, ook leuk om te doen :0)
Labeltje eraan (of een simpel briefje waarop de naam van het project staat...) en dan ben ik toch weer even fijn met een ufo bezig geweest!

When you are busy organising you easily do more than you first had in mind...
And then you come across your ufo's.
Ufo's of which you think: Nice!! Want to work on that again, too!

First I put them in more appropriate storing boxes, also much fun to be doing :0)
Label on it ( or a simple piece of paper with the name of the project on it...) and then I have been nicely occupied with a ufo!

To-do-list 2014

Ik doe niet aan goede voornemens...ik vind het altijd zo sneu voor mezelf als ik ze dan toch weer verbreek ;0)
Wat ik wel doe, is kijken wat ik allemaal heb en vooral ook wat ik nog moet afmaken...en dat is best veel...slik...
Maar er zijn ook altijd wel een aantal nieuwe projecten die ik op mijn lijst zet, want zo na die heerlijk versierde December maand is het altijd zo kaal in huis en dan heb je ook wel weer zin in iets nieuws in huis :0)

I don't do those New Year resolutions ...I find it very sad fot myself when I break them very quickly after making them ;0)
But I do check out what I have laying around and especially what needs to be finished...which is always quit a bit...sigh...
And I always put on some new projects on my list, because the house is so empty without the December decorations and I want some new things then :0)

Dus:
De Dancing Dollies...daar moet ik iets mee doen. Ik vind het een te groot project, het origineel dus ik heb besloten hem te verkleinen naar een kussensloop...denk ik nu ;)

So:
The Dancing Dollies...I have to do something with it. I think it is to big as the original so I decided to downsize to pillowcasing size for on our bed...for now ;)

Ik heb wel al een aantal sterretjes en dergelijke ervan en natuurlijk alle dames die al opgenaaid zijn...die gaan er allemaal af...dat wordt nog een klus...gelukkig heb ik anders dan ik altijd doe de rijgdraad in de dames laten zitten, dus ze verliezen niet hun vorm na het loshalen...pfieuw!

I already have a few stars and things and of course the sewn on Dollies...they will all have to come of...which will be quit the undertaking...fortunately I have left the pre-stitches in which I normally take out as quickly as possible, so they won't lose their shape after being taking of...pfieuw!

Er moeten nog wat tops gequilt worden...

En de klosjes, ook zo leuk toen ik vanmiddag de doos weer eens opende :0) Kreeg er meteen zin in!

And the spools, so much fun and when I opened the box this afternoon I instantly wanted to get started again :0)

En nog wat nieuwe dingetjes, zoals een tafelloper op de sidetable achter de bank...en een mini quiltje voor aan het lampje naast mijn bed...en...en...

And some little things like a tablerunner for the sidetable behind the couch...and a mini quilt to hang on my bedside lamp...and...and...

En dan wil ik ook natuurlijk nog wat aan borduren doen, zoals die prachtige borduurtjes die ik afgelopen jaar overnam van Carin (http://cazwa.blogspot.nl/) :0)

And I want to do some embrodery like the sweet little embrodery I bought from Carin last year (http://cazwa.blogspot.nl/) :0)

Ik hoop dat 2014 twee keer zolang duurt LOL...dat heb ik wel nodig!

I hope 2014 is twice as long LOL...I need it!

Tijdens de zomer die maar geen zomer lijkt te willen zijn...

During the summer that doesn't seem to want to be summer...

ben ik maar weer een nieuw project gestart!
En nee, ik had er vast nog niet voldoende...Ik had er immers één af :0) volkomen terecht dus, dat ik er een nieuw project bij heb gezocht!

I started yet another project!
And no, I probably don't have enough going on...I had finished one :0) completely legal to start a new project, I think!

Nu ben ik iemand die graag projecten in leuke dozen, manden, dienbladen en wat al niet meer opbergt...
Voor dit nieuwe project heb ik maar weer een kunststof naaidoos in gebruik genomen. Nu ben ik absoluut geen fan van plastic en kunststof, maar ja, het heeft helaas ook voordelen:
het is stevig,
er zitten twee lagen in,
een goed deksel MET handvat...
Maar mijn hemel: wat zijn die dingen LELIJK!!

Laat mij daar nu gisteren ineens iets op gevonden te hebben :0)
Zoals velen van ons heb ook ik een voorraad aan materialen voor ditjes en datjes. Zo ook dubbelzijdig plak-aslan. En een flinke stapel gezellig kerstpapier (ooit gekocht voor het scrapbooken, wat ik nauwelijks heb gedaan, omdat alle mooie foto's zo makkelijk op de pc staan en ik het zo'n werk altijd vind om ze te sorteren en op stick te zetten en dan te laten afdrukken en...nou ja, het is al duidelijk denk ik LOL)
Dus ik keek van doos, naar aslan, naar kerstpapier en terug ;0)
Malletjes van kerstvoorwerpen erbij, overtrekken en plakken maar!
AL veel, veel beter nu :0)
Wat kun je daar blij van worden, zeg! Na de zomer ga ik ook mijn andere kunststof naaidoos in een thema pimpen...nu al zin in haha!

Well, I am a person who loves to store projects in cute boxes, baskets, trays and just about every other storage object...
For this new project I took out one of my old plastic sewingboxes.  I am so NOT a fan of plastics, but, unfortunately, it does have some advantages:
it's sturdy,
it's got two layers,
a good lid WITH a grip...
But heavens me: they are so UGLY!!!

But it hit me yesterday :0)
Like a lot of us I too have a stash of materials for all sorts of things. I have found my double-sided sticky plastic and a big pile of fun christmaspapers (once bought for scrapbooking, but I never really gotten into that, since all the pictures are available on the pc and i don't feel like sorting them and then putting them on a usb and then have them printed and...well, I think you got the picture LOL)
So I took a good look at the sewingbox, then the sticky plastic, the christmaspaper and back ;0)
Templates of Christmas stuff out of another box, drew them on the sticky plastic and then they were put on the box!
It looks so much better already :0)
Happy days! When summer is over I am going to pull out my other plastic box and pimp it in a theme...can't wait already haha!

Hm, op zijn koppie...nou ja, het idee is hetzelfde :0)
De octablom uit de quilt&zo van vorig jaar. De omnibus lag weer bij de boekhandel, ik helemaal blij, leuke nieuwe dingen om te bekijken!
Ik ga hem in kerststofjes maken, helemaal scrappy :0)

Hm, it's upside down...well it is still the same design :0)
It is the Octaflower which was featured in the magazine Quilt & zo of last year. It was presented in a package of three mags, so I was very happy, a lot of new stuff to look at!
I am going to use Christmas fabrics, all scrappy :0) 

En net als voorgaande jaren zou ik de vingerhoedjes mee op vakantie nemen...maar die worden een beetje onhandig in vervoer, eigenlijk :0(
Omdat er nu al zoveel verschillende hoedjes klaar liggen om een zo scrappy mogelijk uiterlijk te krijgen, heb ik telkens heel veel ruimte nodig om ze allemaal uit te stallen...en dat vind ik veel te veel gedoe op vakantie!

And like last year I was planning to take the timbles-quilt with me on holiday...but it has gotten to much to take with me :0(
Because I now have so many different timbles ready cut, I need a lot of room to display them when I am working on it...and that's not what I want during my holiday!

Dus...de klosjes gaan mee :0)
Die heb ik allemaal al voorgeknipt en dan gaan ze in de handige oprol-rol zodat ze bij elkaar blijven en dat is veel makkelijker op vakantie!
Niet dat ik zeker weet of ik ook maar één steek zal zetten, maar beter mee en niet gedaan, dan niet mee en balen dat ik het niet heb!

So...the spools are coming with :0)
I have already cut them and then they will be put in my roll-it-up-roll to keep together and that's way better for holiday!
Not that I know for sure that I will stitch even one stitch but I rather have it with me and not do anything with it, than to not have it with me and regretting it!

Maar vakantie duurt nog even :0)

But holiday isn't here yet :0)

Ineens is het alweer mei!

And all of a sudden May is here!

Ik doe van alles en nog wat, maar het lijkt wel alsof er niets afkomt of zelfs maar vordert...lichtelijk frustrerend eigenlijk ;0)

I am doing a lot of all sorts of things, but it just seems as if nothing ever gets finished or even comes along...it's slightly frustrating ;0)

Wel redelijk gevorderd zijn de Scotty Dogs! Die zijn helemaal gepatcht en aan elkaar gezet. Nu nog de randen eromheen maken, rits erin...nog niet af dus...komt wel LOL!

The Scotty Dogs have come a reasonable long way! They have been patched and sewn together. Now I have to sew on the borders, zipper...not finished still...Some day LOL!

Verder werk ik weer eens wat aan de vingerhoedjes, steek ik een paar quiltsteekjes in het Jeannetje, knoop ik streng na streng DMC in de bloementuin, borduur ik een paar draadjes aan de Santa Village...een boel van van alles wat dus! Wel heel fijn hoor, telkens iets anders in handen  :0)

In the meantime I have been working on my tumble-quilt, quilted a few stitches in the Jeannetje, knotted string after string of DMC in my flowergarden, did a bit of embroidery on Santa's Village...a lot of lots! I do quit like that though, having different things through my hands :0)

Vanmiddag heb ik weer even mijn klosjesquilt erbij gepakt! Dat is een lekker makkelijk werkje, wat ik eigenlijk overal in huis wel kan doen. Ik hoef er niet bij na te denken en aangezien mijn lieve hubbie vandaag ziek thuis was, is dat een uitkomst haha! Ik ben het niet gewend dat hij thuis is, zo doordeweeks, en ik ben erg snel afgeleid door die "vreemde man" die door het huis dwaalt ;0)

This afternoon I have taken up my Klosjesquilt! It is such a simple project, which i can do anywhere in the house. I don't have to think about what I am doing and since my sweet hubby was home sick today, it was a great solution haha! I am so not used to him being home on any weekday, that I am very fast distracted by this "strange man" wandering through the house ;0)

Die heb ik al bij elkaar gezocht in mijn handige mapje, waarop ze blijven plakken!

En als ze klaar zijn, dan worden ze op foam geprikt, om en om, lekker overzichtelijk :0)

And when they're finished, they get pinned on my foam :0)

Kijken of ik eindelijk weer eens iets af kan krijgen...ooit ;)

opruimen...

Cleaning up...

Tja, eens in de zoveel tijd moet je er toch aan geloven: opruimen! In dit geval was mijn stoffenkast het slachtoffer van mijn opruimwoede :0)
Kijk, zo ziet het er allemaal netjes en onschuldig uit:

Well, every now and then you just have to get to it: cleaning up! In this case my fabricstorage was the victim of my spring-cleaning-enthousiasm :0)
Look, now it looks all neat and innocent:

Het is eigenlijk de kledingkast van de babykamer, waar mijn man lang, lang, lang geleden sliep ( niet in de kast natuurlijk maar in het bijpassende wiegje haha). Mijn zoon heeft er ook van mogen genieten (hij is 9 jaar nu).
Dit is zo'n erfstuk, dat je graag wilt bewaren! Maar om er nu niets mee te doen...nee, dat is ook niets. Dan is het al gauw een enorme sta-in-de-weg.
Dus jaren geleden heb ik hem naar boven (de zolder is mijn naaiterrein) laten tillen en sindsdien is het de gelukkige bewaker van mijn stof-schatten :0)

It is actually the wardrobe that is part of the babyroom my husband lay in long, long, long ago (not in the wardrobe of course but in the matching crib haha). My son has occupied it too (he is 9 years old now).
This is an heirloom you just want to keep! But to do nothing with it....no. Then it will be in the way.
So, years ago i had it brought up ( since the attic is MY space) and ever since it has been the happy guard of all my fabric treasures :0)

En ja, ik ben vergeten even een foto te maken van de chaos die erin heerste...Nu lijkt het alsof ik weinig stofjes heb OH NEE!!!
gelukkig ga ik morgen met moeders naar de Allerlaatste Trunkshow van Supergoof, hier in Sneek en daar staan TWEE winkeltjes: Dotty en Gelreboem stoffen :0) Tijd voor de hoognodige (dat bewijs is nu wel geleverd op foto) voorraad aanvullingen!

And yes, i have forgotten to take a picture of the chaos that was here before i cleaned up...Now it seems like i have a great shortage of fabrics OH NO!!!!
Thank heavens i'm going to the very last trunkshow of Supergoof right here in Sneek tomorrow with my mother. There will be TWO shops present: Dotty and Gelrebloem stoffen :0) Time for the (proved by photo) necessary stocking of lots of fabrics!

Als je dan zo aan het opruimen bent, dan kom je nog wel eens wat tegen. Ja van alles eigenlijk haha! Maar ook de lapjes van de lapjesruil. Daar had ik al snel voor besloten om er een klosje van te maken. Dus:
vanmiddag de linialen, potloden, scharen en schuurpapier er bij gepakt en de benodigde twee malletjes op maat gemaakt. Ik wilde geen stof weggooien, dus heb ik het strak uitgerekend en getekend :0)

When you are busy cleaning up, you come across things. Well, lots of things actually haha!
But i came across the fabrics of the fabricswap. I had quickly decided it would become a Klosjesquilt. So:
this afternoon i took out my rulers, pencils, scissors and sanding paper and made the two necessary templates. I don't want to throw away fabric so i've drawn it out to fit precisely :0)

En dan maak je een fout...

And then you make a mistake...

Ik had de maat van het vierkant niet goed uitgetekend, dus snel hersteld, wat gelukkig heel makkelijk te doen was, pfieuw!

I hadn't drawn the square right, so i mended that quickly, which was quit easy to do, pfieuw!

Nieuw vierkantje gemaakt en voíla: een kloppende klos :0)

Zie, het past er precies op!

See, it fits perfectly!

En dan nog, last but not least: ik heb het Jeannetje gedubbeld en ze ligt er helemaal klaar voor om gequilt te worden!
Ze wordt een kussen. De hoeken vond ik zo wel weer eens anders en aangezien ik het binnenkussen ook zelf maak, kan ik het mooi aanpassen.

And then, last but not least: I've sandwiched Jeannetje and she is all ready to get quilted!
She will become a pillow. the corners i thoughted are a bit different like this and since i will be making the stuffed pillow for inside myself, i can adjust it just right.

Verder was ik nog met mijn blog bezig geweest, gezien het voor mezelf toch een soort archief is van alles waar ik mee bezig ben :0)
